How we handle your personal information
This privacy statement applies to purchases made from and use of the website operated by:
Maison Marguerite BV i.G.When you purchase something from our store, as part of the buying and selling process, we collect the personal information you provide to us, such as your name, billing and delivery address, email address, and payment details.
When you browse our store, we may also automatically receive your computer's internet protocol address, commonly known as an IP address, in order to help us learn about your browser, device, and operating system.
Email marketing, where applicable: with your permission, we may send you emails about our store, new products, offers, and other updates.
You can shop as a guest or open an account. If you open one, we keep your name, your email address and your password (stored only as a one-way hash: we cannot read it ourselves). If you choose to, you can add a phone number and a delivery and a billing address, which we then fill in for you at checkout. We also keep your saved basket, your wishlist and your settings (such as how the shop displays furniture), when you registered and last signed in, and whether you have confirmed your email address. We use this information to run your account; the lawful basis is the performance of our contract with you.
We email you a time-limited link to confirm your email address and, if you ask for one, to reset your password. Orders you placed as a guest with the same email address appear in your account once the address is confirmed.
For trade accounts we also hold the details from your trade application (company, contact, VAT number) and the terms agreed with you, so that the shop can show and apply your trade prices.
To protect signing in and registering from automated abuse, we use a security check that runs entirely on our own server. It processes your IP address for no more than 24 hours; the lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the shop secure.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time in your account settings, or by emailing us. Your login, addresses, settings, saved basket and wishlist are deleted straight away. Records of the orders you placed are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, no longer linked to an account.
How do you get my consent?
When you provide us with personal information to complete a transaction, verify your payment card, place an order, arrange delivery, or return a purchase, we understand that you consent to our collecting and using that information for that specific purpose only.
If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, such as marketing, we will either ask you directly for your express consent or provide you with an opportunity to decline.
How do I withdraw my consent?
If, after opting in, you change your mind, you may withdraw your consent for us to contact you, or for the continued collection, use, or disclosure of your information, at any time by contacting us at [email protected] or by writing to us at:
We may disclose your personal information if we are required by law to do so, or if you violate our Terms of Service.
Our store is hosted on our own infrastructure. Your data is stored in databases protected by industry-standard security controls and a firewall.
Payment. Card payments are processed through our payment gateway, which is certified to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). We do not store your full card number on our servers; only a token that allows us to refund the transaction. Your purchase transaction data is stored only for as long as necessary to complete the transaction and to meet our legal obligations (e.g. for tax and bookkeeping).
All payment providers we work with adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS, as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council. These requirements help ensure the secure handling of payment card information by our store and its service providers.
In general, the third-party providers we use will only collect, use, and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.
However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in relation to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.
We recommend that you read the privacy policies of these providers so that you understand how your personal information will be handled.
Some providers may be located in, or have facilities located in, a different jurisdiction from you or from us. If you proceed with a transaction involving the services of a third-party provider, your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which that provider or its facilities are located.
Once you leave our store's website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this Privacy Statement or our website's Terms of Service.
Links. When you click on links on our store, they may direct you away from our website. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites and encourage you to read their privacy statements.
Analytics. Our store may use analytics services such as Google Analytics to help us understand who visits our site and which pages are viewed.
To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed.
If you provide us with payment card information, the information is encrypted in transit using TLS (Transport Layer Security) and stored with AES-256 encryption.
Although no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we follow PCI-DSS requirements and implement generally accepted industry standards.
